2007 Summer Rowing
We have the opportunity for competitive rowing with the Chargers this summer and fall. See this announcement for more
information.
Another good alternative to the Chargers is the Cazenovia Rowing Club. They too have a number of summer events.
Hopefully, we will be running our own novice sculling program this fall at Jamesville Reservoir.
Sculling
Sculling means that each rower has two oars, one for each hand. Sculling shells can accomodate 1, 2 or 4 rowers. These shells are called singles, doubles and quads.
Sculling is an attractive way to start rowing for many reasons...
- The motion is all midline, no reaching left or right on growing bodies
- Odd numbers of rowers can still row the boat
- Sculling skills directly translate to sweep rowing
- Sculling is a lifetime sport
- Several single sculls are available on Jamesville Reservoir already
- The State Championship has sculling events
Donations
JD Crew is in the process of organizing as a tax-exempt organization. Donations to JD Crew are (will be) tax exempt. We really need some
donations to get the ball rolling. We have the following expenses:
| Vespoli Quad Shell and Sculls |
$3120 |
| Outboard Engine |
$600 |
| Insurance |
$300 |
| Total |
$4020 |
